Austin Inspired

The struggle to coin Austin as a home away from home was evident my freshman year of college; however,  I cannot see myself moving out of the city now. What I have found through attending UT is that Austin has been a great complement to me. The phrase "a healthy lifestyle" encompasses everything I have come to stand for. I began school as un unspecified business major but within six months of living in Austin, I had to find a path that incorporated the health phenomena into my studies. In the spring semester of my freshman year I added Nutrition as a simultaneous major, and since then my appreciation for the city has only solidified.

Running is an activity that I have practiced for years; I began participating in races in the fourth grade. In high school I tried out for the cross country team, and was a part of the team when we took the state title. I began looking forward to exploring Austin, and my first year of college was dedicated to learning the landscape. I currently frequent Town Lake and Shoal Creek several times a week. The city has given me a new perspective on the outdoors, which I had taken for granted in the past. Austin contains such a vibrant community that supports physical activity and exercise, specialized diets, and various lifestyles. The emphasis on supporting local producers and companies is placed by the city's demand for fresh, quality foods.

Living in Austin for the past two years has taught me to appreciate healthy lifestyle habits; it has inspired me to do research on my own. I am fortunate enough to attend a school that includes clubs such as Texas Nutrition and Longhorn Wellness which focus on the health and productivity of students. The benefits of studying both Nutrition and Marketing are innumerable, and each day I look forward to what the city can offer me. My passion is Nutrition but I am intrigued by the practicality of business. I am hoping to incorporate both into a career one day, but at this moment Marketing and Nutrition allow me to bring something new to the table.
